Gas

We charge a minimum monthly service charge of $6.00 for service inside the City Limits and $7.00 for service outside the City Limits. In addition, a rate is calculated each month for the cost of natural gas and charged per therm (100 cubic feet) of gas used.

The monthly rate for inside City Limits is calculated as follows for gas consumption up to 500 therms: the cost of gas as determined by the City monthly per 1,000 cubic feet, plus $3.00 per 1,000 cubic feet (overhead), plus 4% surcharge. The monthly rate for gas consumption over 500 therms is the cost of gas as determined by the City monthly per 1,000 cubic feet, plus $2.60 per 1,000 cubic feet, plus 4%.

The monthly rate for outside City Limits is calculated as above plus 20%.

The gas meter is usually connected to the residence or business and is read each month by a professional and courteous field representative. At the same time, the integrity of the metere and connection to the house is checked. Every effort is made to ensure accuracy and timeliness, but as with any human endeavor, errors may occur. We are happy to go back out and check the meter reading on any account for which the billing appears erroneous or atypical of the service history if we have not already done so prior to billing. If a customer requests a reread and the reading is correct, there is a $10.00 charge.

Contract Trash Collection Services

Allied Waste has had a contract with the City of Gulf Breeze since February 2001 to provide garbage trash and recycling service to residential, multi-family and commercial customers within the city limits. As the contractor, they provide waste services for which the City of Gulf Breeze bills on their monthly statements.

Single Unit Residential Premise means any building or structure in the city which is used for residential housing purposes. The following contract waste services will be provided:

  • curbside pickup of household garbage, once weekly
  • recyclable materials, once weekly
  • yard trash collection, once weekly

Allied supplies a 96 gallon wheeled cart for household garbage collection. 68 gallon carts are also available upon request. All household garbage must be placed in the Allied provided cart. Allied also supplies a 96 gallon wheeled cart for recycle collection (blue with gray top).

Recyclable materials include newsprint, junk mail, cardboard, glass food and drink containers, tin and aluminum food and drink containers, and plastic soda, water and milk containers (plastic containers must have the HDPE symbol #1 or #2 on the bottom). These materials should be placed in the recycling cart (blue container with gray top) and set by the curb on your scheduled Friday collection day.

Yard waste should be placed at the curb on Wednesday's by 7:00 am. It must be bagged, bundled or containerized to prevent blowing and scattering and to facilitate collection. Large limbs are not to exceed 4 inches in diameter and 6 feet in length.
